How do I calculate the cost of carpet?

Carpet is normally bought by the lineal/broadloom meter (usually 3.66 meter wide) so you’ll see this term or ‘blm’ when quoting carpet. However, as timber, vinyl, tiles are sold by the square meter, carpet prices are converted to square meters so an easy comparison can be made between these flooring options. For example if your house requires 110 square meters of carpet, to work out how many broadloom meters you require, divide 110 by 3.66 meters (if that’s the width of the carpet), which will give you approximately 30 broadloom meters of carpet that you’ll need to cover 110 sqm.

Costs are based on square meterage for ease of use but please remember that carpet is bought in broadloom meters (3.66m wide)
